Victims of sexual violence, abuse, and domestic trauma require confidential, specialised crisis intervention and long-term psychological rehabilitation. In Israel’s southern periphery, access to comprehensive mental health and trauma support services is historically limited, leaving survivors vulnerable without immediate care. Since October 7, in addition to their usual work, therapists and other staff have been overwhelmed as attacks were perpetrated on most sites of the October 7 tragedy.

JNF UK supports Maslan in operating a 24/7 emergency crisis hotline, professional counselling services, legal advocacy, and educational workshops aimed at preventing sexual violence and domestic abuse across the Negev. For many women, October 7 was a trigger that reactivated past trauma.
“For over 30 years, Maslan has stood as a beacon of confidential support for victims of violence. Every individual deserves a safe environment to speak out, heal, and rebuild their dignity.”
Evacuees displaced by October 7 have been living in cramped quarters in hotels; many have not yet returned to their original homes and are isolated from their communities and support structures.
